Supplement Stories: Niktrition on a Mission

Here at Makers Nutrition, our employees are experts on the dietary supplement industry not only because they are highly trained, but because many of them use supplements themselves. That’s why when you call to speak with a representative, you don’t just get your answers, you get #YourSupplementSolution.

For our first edition of Supplement Stories, I sat down with one of Makers Nutrition’s newest team members Nikki Santopadre, who not only takes supplements herself, but also endorses them through her own nutrition business.

Q: When did you become interested in what supplements have to offer? What made you interested in taking them yourself?

A: I started studying to become a nutritionist about five years ago. The more I learned about nutrition, the more I realized how important supplements are for your everyday life. I started using supplements for sports because I do a lot of weightlifting and CrossFit workouts. I wanted to be able to recover faster so I could train at my best.

Q: Which supplements do you currently use?

A: I use BCAAs and a green superfood powder so I can get in the extra greens and amino acids for recovery. If you aren’t someone who eats a lot of vegetables, I would definitely recommend you look into a green superfood powder or supplement so you can get in those nutrients you may be lacking. I use a lot of herbal supplements, like holy basil, lion’s mane, and ashwagandha for cognitive function and focus. I also take omega-3s because I don’t get as many omega-3 fatty acids in my diet as I’d like, and I know it’s something a lot of people don’t get enough of. That’s another one I highly recommend you take if you’re not getting enough through your regular diet.

Q: Can you tell me some more about what you studied and the impact it has had on your nutrition business?

A: Sure! I now have my bachelor’s degree in sports nutrition and I am currently getting my master’s in clinical nutrition. About a year ago, I started my own nutrition consultation business, called Niktrition. When my clients are looking for supplements, I always stress the importance of making sure the company/brand works with a provider that fully complies with FDA GMP regulations, like Makers Nutrition. If it does not, then they may not be getting what the package says is in the product.

A PROVIDER TO TRUST

It’s true! FDA GMP guidelines are a system for ensuring that products are consistently produced and controlled according to quality standards. If the supplement manufacturing companies you’re looking into are not registered, it is in your best interest to pass on them immediately. According to the World Health Organization, GMP is designed to minimize the risks involved in any pharmaceutical production that cannot be eliminated through testing the final product. Some of those risks include unexpected contamination of products, incorrect labels or containers, and insufficient or excessive amounts of active ingredients. All of these risks pose potential harm to the consumer and must not be neglected. Makers Nutrition is both FDA-registered and audited twice annually to ensure guideline compliance because we are committed to providing only the safest, quality-driven products for your customers.
