Among our newest product specialists here at Makers Nutrition is the always-friendly, hardworking Michael Palazzolo. A 2021 Stony Brook University graduate whose concentration was in business, Mr. Palazzolo is certainly paving his way to success, having already surpassed benchmark expectations within his first three months of employment. Here is some insight on his background and hopes for the future.
Q: Having graduated from Stony Brook University with a BS in Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services, how has your education prepared you for your current position as a Product Specialist here at Makers?
It has prepared me most by allowing me to understand many facets of operations, sales, and marketing. The training at Markers Nutrition has built upon the foundation of my classes at school. One class in particular required students to present a marketing plan to improve a business, during which I learned how better communicate a goal in order to draw the attention of a target consumer. I am now applying those lessons to conversations with clients, first learning their business goals, then figuring how our supplement services can best suits their needs to achieve those goals.
Q: What skills have you been able to apply to your position that you theoretically learned about in college?
At Stony Brook, many of the classes were math based and operations based. They were about problem solving and thinking out of the box. Many classes were also project-based, in which students were assigned certain roles. That really taught me how to best work in teams, applying perfectly to our team setup at Makers.
It’s true! Our sales teams consist of an account manager and one or two product specialists who initiate the dialogue with potential clients before their respective account manager handles the more in-depth discussions regarding orders and logistics. The way we see it, teamwork makes the dream work!
Q: I know you have a background in sports, specifically baseball. Have you been finding your experience on the field helpful when discussing sports nutrition products with clients?
Playing baseball has helped me tremendously in how I approach work. It has taught me to be responsible, disciplined, respectful and sincere in how I speak to clients.
As an award-winning vitamin manufacturing service provider, we strive for superb client care. No client, current or prospective, should hang up the phone angry or disappointed with how a conversation was conducted by any employee. That is why we train everyone, not just administrative assistants who are the first line of contact when you dial 1-844-625-3771, in customer service. When that call is transferred to a product specialist, the potential client should e welcomed by a warm voice that invites business, not one that deters it. We value your time and patience, especially during difficult times when time really is money, so it is of utmost importance that we hire professionals like Mr. Palazzolo, who truly care about their approach and how they handle each encounter with clients throughout the supplement manufacturing process.
Q: Many of our product specialists know a lot about vitamins and supplements, from daily multivitamins to pre-workouts, because they are supplement takers themselves. Do you use any supplements yourself? If so, have you found speaking from experience beneficial in conversation with potential clients?
Being competitive always meant to be sure your body was in its best shape. So, taking supplements and protein powders was always part of my daily regimen.
Taking protein powder is also part of two in five Americans’ daily regimen, making it the perfect supplement for your vitamin brand to not only profit from, but to help keep customers’ bodies in their best shape. Mr. Palazzolo brings up a great point about competition. Many bodybuilders, athletes, and gym fanatics take quality protein powder to support muscle mass and recovery post-workout—two large factors when it comes to competing. Your private label protein, flavored to perfection, can attract customers who need the supplemental help in reaching their fitness goals.
Q: As you are well on your way to success at Makers Nutrition, what are you looking forward to the most?
My objective is to continue to grow with the company and use my past experiences from college and my experiences as a Division 1 baseball player to hopefully hit some home runs!
We are thrilled that Mr. Palazzolo joined us at Makers Nutrition. We knew from day one that he would be a great asset to our company, as he is clearly a team player. With his background in business and skills learned through Division 1 baseball, we are certain that Mr. Palazzolo will continue applying his knowledge from the classroom and the field to his future in sales.
